In December my car insurance was up for renewal again and I wasn't prepare to pay the same premium as last year so I began to search for cheap car insurance online. My insurance company was looking for €998 for third party fire & theft.
Quinn direct was the first company i checked because friends were always telling me how cheap they were so I got a quote. It wasn't cheap, I had heard that Quinn were raising prices but the quote I got was pretty much the same as my previous one, so I had to pass.
After going to several other Irish insurance company websites and getting rediculously high quotes I decided to try AXA insurance. This was another "cheap" insurance provider according to my sources. Turns out they were right, my quote was about €240 cheaper than my previous insurer and I was going to buy it. Theni tried Bestquote's online insurance finder. Since they are a broker I thought maybe they will have a deal for me. Again I was right. The quote i recieved was €640 for comprehensive cover whch was cheaper than the AXA quote. Then I checked who the insurer would be, it was none other than AXA aswel.
This i found strange, how could a broker offer cheaper AXA insurance than if I dealt with AXA directly?
Really I didn't care and I bought the insurance throught the Bestquote broker for €357 cheaper than the company I was already with. Thats a saving of €357 and all I ad to do was some comparison shopping whic took all of about 2 hours surfing.
So the moral of the story here is to shop around for cheap car insurance and when you find a cheap quote, keep looking because you are bound to come across a cheaper quote.
Meanwhile I will post the info I gatehered when looking for cheap car insurance and hopefully make consumers aware of the best deals available in Irish Car Insurance.
If you have found a deal on cheap car insurance or have been ripped off, leave a comment to provide others with some advice to help them choose the right insurance company with value for money.
